Opening a DIP File
The DIP file type is primarily associated with DiPTrace.
What is a DIP file
- Purpose of the file: The DIP file extension is mainly generated by the printed circuits board layout editor. This module enables the user to design and store the PCB layout in DIP format. Upon finishing the designing process of the printed circuit board layout, the user can verify the validity of the generated layout. Once the validity of the layout is verified, it can be ordered through DipTrace. DIP files are stored in binary format. They were developed by Novarm, a company that develops software for printed circuit board professionals.
- Support: These files can be opened using the Novarm DipTrace program that is available for the Windows as well as the Mac operating systems.
How do you open DIP files?
You need a suitable software like DiPTrace to open a DIP file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your DIP file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a DIP file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

Programs that open and convert DIP files:
- DiPTrace by Novarm
See the previous paragraphs to learn more about the main application. DIP files are often referred to as DiPTrace cads because this type of file is primarily created or used by this software.
- DVDINFOPro (PIPO graph data file) by Nic Wilson & Jonathan WilsonDVDINFOPro is a software that provides information about the DVD and CD drives on a system. DIP files in DVDINFOPro save data used to generate a PIPO graph. The file format has been replaced by DIPX. This file format is classified as Data. - MemoryLifter (Packed Learning Module Files) by LearnLiftMemoryLifter is a computer flashcards tool for learning, based on the famous Sebastian Leitner box system. DZP files require MemoryLifter 2.0 to open and DIP files require MemoryLifter 1.x to open. This file format is classified as Database.
- Microvolt Archiver (game database) by d3v1l401Microvolt Archiver is a tool for extracting (and decrypting) a protected archive called cgd.dip. This archive is found is certain MMOFPS games and contains binary structures used by the game to store properties, server lists, channel lists, etc. This file format is classified as Game.
- Open Watcom (Debug Information Processor file) by WatcomOpen Watcom is an Integrated Development Environment (IDE) that is now open-source. DIP stands for Debug Information Processor. The files provide an interface between the software's debugger and different debug information formats . This file format is classified as Developer. DIP file format details:
If you know the file format, you can also find out how to open or edit the file. Often, the file format can be deduced from the file extension or the initial bytes (called the signature). However, different programs can use the same file extension. Furthermore, a file extension can be renamed incorrectly and double-clicking on it will then display an error when it is opened. So a detailed analysis of a file is vital in order to determine the format and the associated program. Our evaluation of the DIP files looks like this:
The DIP extension is quite commonly used. The file itself includes different formats for different programs. The file formats most commonly found in DIP files are:
- 60% of all DIP files belong to DipTrace PCB. These are binary files, so they do not contain words or text. The files are 45 KB to 580 KB in size, with a median of 210 KB. The file type was developed only in the last few years. Several words can almost always be found in the files, e.g. DTBOARD and Botto. Such files sometimes refer to radio, board, arduino, flvsxdciidjep, controller, channel, circuit, fulktn, module, power and aguo.
- 15% of all DIP files save the data in XML file format. The Extensible Markup Language (XML) is a simple text-based format for representing structured information: documents, webpages, data, configuration, books, transactions, invoices, and much more. XML defines a set of rules for encoding documents in a format that is both human-readable and machine-readable. These files are text files and can therefore be read using a text editor. The file size is in the range of 100 KB to 740 KB. Several words can almost always be found in the files, e.g. <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>, <Building>, <Head>, <History>, <Scene>, <LevelSize>, <UserInformation/>, <CurrentLevel>0</CurrentLevel>, <Version>64</Version> and <Version>68</Version>. The file name New Project.dip is characteristic of these files. Files like these are about house, home and plan.
All other DIP files (25%) have no consistent format, such as ZIP, config, DTBOARD and Self. These files are often connected to center, policy, layout, images, axis or bask. You can get all the details of your DIP file by dragging it onto this page or by clicking the button "Choose your .dip file to analyze" above.

a dip printed circuit board file is a special file format by Novarm and should only be edited and saved with the appropriate software.
How to solve problems with DIP files
- Associate the DIP file extension with the correct application.
- Update your software that should actually open printed circuit board files. Because only the current version supports the latest DIP file format. Search, therefore, e.g. on the Novarm manufacturer website after an available DiPTrace update.
- To make sure that your DIP file is not corrupted or virus-infected, get the file again and scan it with Google's virustotal.com.
- Click here to open your .DIP file online - secure, fast, and no downloads needed.
