What is an EFS file

EFS files mostly belong to eSignal by Intercontinental Exchange. An EFS file contains a formula script created with eSignal stock trading software or web app. The contents of this file is written in an XML-like syntax and used to calculate/forecast market outcomes. EFS is not a commonly used file extension and includes very many different file formats. But the following two file formats are common:

15% of all EFS files have the same signature 61 5C 04 05 14 41 01 00 FE. If you open these files in a text editor, you will see only illegible characters. EFS files can be up to 9 MB in size, but are often around 3 MB - 6 MB. Some examples of file names are efs_2020-06-01 10-30.efs.
