Opening an FTS File

The FTS file type is primarily associated with AVIS - FITS Viewer.

FTSFile Extension FTS
File extension: FTS
File type:  bitmap

What is an FTS file?

FTS files mostly belong to AVIS - FITS Viewer by MSB. An FTS file is an bitmap (Raster Image) saved in Flexible Image Transport System (FITS) format. The file usually contains image origin metadata, photometric information, photon lists, spectra, and astronomy data all of which are saved as plain text. FTS images are mainly used in medical and scientific applications because the format supports the storage of infrared and x-ray data in a single file. Another type of FTS file contains data used by ArcGIS geographic information system. FastTrack Schedule project planning, scheduling, and tracking application saves a schedule in a different FTS file.

How do you open FTS files?

You need a suitable software like AVIS - FITS Viewer to open an FTS file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your FTS file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a FTS file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

FTS file format details:

To view or edit FTS files you need to know the file format, because it determines how the data in this file is stored. A file format is determined by the file extension and signature, so JPEG images have the extension .jpg and the first bytes in the file are ÿØÿ. However, different programs can use the same file extension, and file extensions can be assigned incorrectly. Exact knowledge of the format is therefore important in order to solve problems occurring in files. Our analysis of the FTS files produces the following result:

You will often come across the FTS file type. This covers different formats for different programs. The two most popular formats are as follows:

All the rest of the FTS files (25%) have different formats, the following 5 formats can be found: Windows Help Full-Text Search index and CMS. They are often associated with family, home, engineering, pharma, single, development or claimsj. You can get all the details of your FTS file by dragging it onto this page or by clicking the button "Choose your .fts file to view this image" above.

How to solve problems with FTS files

  • Associate the FTS file extension with the correct application.
  • Update your software that should actually open bitmaps. Because only the current version supports the latest FTS file format. Search, therefore, e.g. on the MSB manufacturer website after an available AVIS - FITS Viewer update.
  • To make sure that your FTS file is not corrupted or virus-infected, get the file again and scan it with Google's virustotal.com.
