How to open LAB files
You need a suitable software like ChemLab to open a LAB file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your LAB file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a LAB file directly in the browser:. LAB file format:
The file format determines how the data is stored in the file. The file format can be deduced from the file extension and the signature. If the file extension or signature does not match the file format, errors will occur when opening or editing the file. Knowledge is power - this also applies when dealing with unknown or faulty files. Below you will find our evaluation of the LAB files:
LAB is one of the most common file extensions and includes different formats for different programs. However, the following two file formats are common:
- 50% of all LAB files are based on the Microsoft Compound File format, which is also known as Compound File Binary File format (CFBF or CFB) or OLE2 Compound Document format. Compound document files are used to structure the contents of a document in the file. It is possible to divide the data into several streams, and to store these streams in different places in the file. In this way compound document files support a complete file system inside the file, the streams are like files in a real file system, and the sections are like subdirectories. The file signature of compound files is defined as D0 CF 11 E0 A1 B1 1A E1, so the first character of a file looks like "DOCFILE". The internal app name of LAB files is CODESOFT, CODESOFT 6 Enterprise, CODESOFT 7 Enterprise RFID or CODESOFT 2012 Enterprise RFID. Sections and streams in the file are named Printer, Contents, Format, General, Objects, Variables, Database, DocumentSummaryInformation, Form, SummaryInformation, RfTagObject, BackGround and VarsCategories. The files are 23 KB to 1 MB in size, with a median of 140 KB. The file type is old but is used even today. Files like these are sometimes connected to label, carton, barcode, entergy, product, case, code and high.
- 8% of all LAB files use the ZIP format, the LAB file contains a number of compressed files. A typical number of included files is 47. If you want to see the included files and images, simply rename the file extension to .zip and double-click it. LAB files can be up to 7 MB in size, but are often around 780 KB - 4 MB. Several words can almost always be found in the files, e.g. bson. Files like these are sometimes connected to harnsberger, forces, chenicek, standing, waves, mccord, report, accel and janie, and contain personal data.
The remaining 42% of all LAB files are different files with different signatures, the following 13 formats can be found: LucasArts game data archive, UTF-16 (LE), HAMA and INSF. They are often associated with data, active, queen, missing, arctic, sample or phone. Drag & drop your file here to see the file format and a preview of your LAB file!
