Opening LBL Files
The LBL file type is primarily associated with dBASE.
What is an LBL file?
- Main Usage:
-
- The LBL is primarily associated with Zebra Designer, an application to design and print stickers, product or item barcode labels, or wristbands. THe LBL the file is the project file created in the software. LBL is a native format to Designer. You can also store images in an LBL file.
- Loftware NiceLabel, a software application used for developing bar codes, RFID labels and other professional labels, also uses LBL file extension for its label template files. These LBL files contain templates used by the software for label projects and those templates may contain default layout and designs including dimensions, formatting, template fields and other label settings.
- Associations:
- Some programs just use LBL file extension for their label software files like British National Bibliography files.
- Daqarta: Daqarta, a data acquisition in real-time analysis software, uses LBL file extension for its extended audio data files.
How to open an LBL file
You need a suitable software like dBASE to open an LBL file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your LBL file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a LBL file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

LBL file format:
Every file has a defined file format, i.e. how the data is arranged in the file. The file format can be determined based on the file extension and the signature (the first few characters of a file). If the file extension does not match the file format, double-clicking on the file will cause an error upon opening. Knowledge is power - this also applies when dealing with unknown or faulty files. Below is our analysis of the LBL files:
The LBL extension is very commonly found and is mainly used by one program with a specific format. The two most common formats are as follows:
- 75% of all LBL files use the Microsoft Compound File format, also known as Composite Document File format or OLE2 compound document format. This Windows file format has features similar to those of a filesystem format with virtual files and subfolders. The file signature of compound files is defined as D0 CF 11 E0 A1 B1 1A E1, so the first character of a file looks like "DOCFILE". The app name of LBL files is P-touch Editor or LABELVIEW 2014 - Pro. Sections and streams in the file are named Contents, OcDocument, V2R3 Data, NICE Preview, PO Check, V21R2 Data, V2R4 Data, V2R5 Data, V30 Data, V26 Data, Integrations, V21R6 Data, V3 Data, V31 Data, V32 CP Storages, V32 Data, V322 Data, V33 Data, V36 Data, V364 Data and V365 Data. LBL files are between 62 KB and 250 KB in size. The file type was created 10 years ago, but is still used today. Such LBL files store data about label, barcode, etiqueta, sample, vita, code, microscope and logo.
- 5% of all LBL files start with the bytes MX9, which are crucial for this file format. The contents of these files cannot be read by a human; only a computer program can interpret the data. The files are 4 KB to 71 KB in size, with a median of 17 KB.
All other LBL files (20%) have different formats, the following 15 formats exist: Detached PDS Label info, UTF-16 (LE), UTF-8, config, RIFF, BEtichette, LAB and Label. Often described as labels, zebra, pako, etichetta, biscotti, pastrama, carnati or pack. You can get all the details of your LBL file by dragging it onto this page or by clicking the button "Choose your .lbl file to analyze" above.

an lbl formatted label file is a special file format by dataBased Intelligence and should only be edited and saved with the appropriate software.
How to solve problems with LBL files
- Associate the LBL file extension with the correct application.
- Update your software that should actually open formatted label files. Because only the current version supports the latest LBL file format. Search, therefore, e.g. on the dataBased Intelligence manufacturer website after an available dBASE update.
- To make sure that your LBL file is not corrupted or virus-infected, get the file again and scan it with Google's virustotal.com.
- Click here to open your .LBL file online - secure, fast, and no downloads needed.
