What is an NRG file?

NRG files mostly belong to Nero by Nero. An NRG file is an optical disc image saved in a proprietary (IFF-based) format developed by Nero AG. Information stored in an NRG file can include audio/video tracks, cue sheets, session information, and extended track data. The Nero Burning ROM utility in Nero multimedia software suite is the primary tool for creating and burning NRG disk images. Third-party disc authoring programs also support this format. Another type of NRG file contains registration entries used by Norton Internet Security antivirus software.

How to open an NRG file

You need a suitable software like Nero to open an NRG file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert.
