Opening a PAS File

The PAS file type is primarily associated with Free Pascal.

PASFile Extension PAS
File extension: PAS
File type:  source code

What is a PAS file?

PAS files mostly belong to Free Pascal by Free Pascal Developers. A PAS file contains program source code written in Pascal (or any dialect of Pascal e.g. Object Pascal, Turbo Pascal) programming language. A PAS file can be created, edited, and/or compiled with integrated development environments such as Delphi, Dev-Pascal and compilers such as Free Pascal. Another type of PAS file is a global script used to automate processes in WinCC supervisory control and data acquisition software.

How to open PAS files

You need a suitable software like Free Pascal to open a PAS file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your PAS file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a PAS file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

Programs that open and convert PAS files:

  1. Free Pascal by Free Pascal Developers
See the previous paragraphs to learn more about the main application. PAS files are often referred to as Free Pascal developers because this type of file is primarily created or used by this software.
  2. C++ Builder (source code) by Embarcadero
C++ Builder is an integrated development environment for building cross-platform native applications. It can be used to edit Object Pascal program source code saved in a PAS file. This file format is classified as Developer.
  3. Delphi (source code) by Embarcadero
Delphi is an integrated development environment that uses Object Pascal to build Windows applications. The source code for a program written in Object Pascal is saved in a PAS file. This file format is classified as Developer.
  4. PDP-10 (source code) by DEC
PDP-10 is a discontinued mainframe computer. Its Pascal compiler uses source code saved in a PAS file. PDP-10 was replaced by PDP-11. This file format is classified as Developer.
  5. WinCC (global script) by Siemens
WinCC is a supervisory control and data acquisition system for industrial processes. It uses a global script saved in a PAS file. This file format is classified as Developer.

PAS format details:

If you can determine the file format, the associated program can also be determined. Each file format has a unique extension and almost always a unique signature. For example, Microsoft Word documents have the extension .docx and the signature (usually the first 3 characters in this file) PK. Nonetheless, different programs can utilize the same file extension to represent distinct file formats. Double-clicking on the file often results in an error when opening. Exact knowledge of the format is therefore important in order to solve problems occurring in files. Our evaluation of the PAS files looks like this:

The PAS extension is very commonly used. This PAS file itself is among the most popular common file types and includes different formats for the applicable programs. The following file formats are most commonly found in PAS files:

The remaining 55% of all PAS files are files with no common format, frequently e.g. WinCC script, UTF-8, Source, .NET, Program, uses and VERSION. They are often associated with herosiege, vetoresex, gialinh, latihan, game or tich. You can get all the details of your PAS file by dragging it onto this page or by clicking the button "Choose your .pas file to view" above.

a pas source code is a special file format by Free Pascal Developers and should only be edited and saved with the appropriate software.

How to solve problems with PAS files

  • Associate the PAS file extension with the correct application.
  • Update your software that should actually open source codes. Because only the current version supports the latest PAS file format. Search, therefore, e.g. on the Free Pascal Developers manufacturer website after an available Free Pascal update.
  • To make sure that your PAS file is not corrupted or virus-infected, get the file again and scan it with Google's virustotal.com.
  • Click here to open your .PAS file online - secure, fast, and no downloads needed.
