All about QRY Files
The QRY file type is primarily associated with Microsoft Access.
What is a QRY file
These files are used in different environments. For example:
How to open QRY files
You need a suitable software like Microsoft Access to open a QRY file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your QRY file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a QRY file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

Programs that open and convert QRY files:
- Microsoft Access
See the previous paragraphs to learn more about the main application. QRY files are often referred to as Microsoft Access databases because this type of file is primarily created or used by this software.
- BI/Query
- dBASE IV Query
- Lotus Approach Query for SQL Tables
- QueryThis extension is almost always some form of query; on small systems the query is likely designed to be against some specific database; on large systems the query is likely against some form of SQL running on a server or mainframe. The Mime types used with this association are: application/x-qry.
- Query by Microsoft Corporation
QRY file extension format:
To view or edit QRY files you need to know the file format, because it determines how the data in this file is stored. A file format is determined by the file extension and signature, so JPEG images have the extension .jpg and the first bytes in the file are ÿØÿ. However, different programs can use the same file extension. Furthermore, a file extension can be renamed incorrectly and double-clicking on it will then display an error when it is opened. When there is a problem with a file, the first step to solving it is to determine the file format. Below you will find our evaluation of the QRY files:
The QRY file extension is not widely used. Such a file is used by many programs, each with its own file format. However, the following two file formats are common:
- 20% of all QRY files use the same file format, which have the signature L8MC059zOviFa73H3l3E34+Oj78W2aC32O4JqHgpe1fZGrHaM7. The content consists of readable text data, which can be read using a text editor. The files are 760 bytes to 2 KB in size, with a median of 1 KB. The files contain the following words: 7md6vqh, L8MC059zOviFa73H3l3E34, Oj78W2aC32O4JqHgpe1fZGrHaM79GVpZTqkCCQyLd6oaOiVj09V3k4Ul5p9y49Mf and djz1oa0gjXYpOi8HYWmToZLQk. Such QRY files store data about crashes, alcohol, statewide, involved and fatal, and nearly always contain personal information.
- 20% of all QRY files start with the bytes CVSTGFLE, which are crucial for this file format. They consist of unreadable binary data. The files are on average 14 KB in size and range from 9 KB to 27 KB. Several words can almost always be found in the files, e.g. CVSTGFLE. Such files sometimes refer to query.
The remaining 60% of all QRY files are files with no common format, frequently e.g. XML. Often described as cash, audit, data or jobs. Drag & drop your file here to see the file format and a preview of your QRY file!
Technical Data for QRY File Extension
The following listing is compiled from the database produced by the 'Associate This!' program, selected data from the main FILExt database and file extension information submitted by users.

a qry query file is a special file format and should only be edited and saved with the appropriate software.
How to solve problems with QRY files
- Associate the QRY file extension with the correct application.
- Update your software that should actually open query files. Because only the current version supports the latest QRY file format. Search, therefore, e.g. on the manufacturer website after an available Microsoft Access update.
- To make sure that your QRY file is not corrupted or virus-infected, get the file again and scan it with Google's virustotal.com.
- Click here to open your .QRY file online - secure, fast, and no downloads needed.
