Opening SNAG Files
The SNAG file type is primarily associated with Snagit.
What is an SNAG file?
- Main Usage: SnagIt saves annotated screen captures as SNAG files. These files contain the captured bitmap image as well as annotations in the form of vector objects. The use of vector objects allows annotations to be easily edited.
- Compatibility: SNAG files use a proprietary file format and are not compatible with most third party image viewing software. However, the files can be exported to more common formats, such as PNG and JPG files and viewed as normal. SnagIt is available for both Windows and MacOS operating systems.
How to open SNAG files
You need a suitable software like Snagit from TechSmith to open an SNAG file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your SNAG file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a SNAG file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

If the file extension does not match the file format, double-clicking on the file will cause an error upon opening. Exact knowledge of the format is therefore important in order to solve problems occurring in files. Below you will find our evaluation of the SNAG files:
