What is an SPE file?

SPE files mostly belong to SPSS Statistics by IBM. SPE filename extension is mainly associated with extension bundles (plugins) used or created by SPSS Statistics data mining and analysis software. These SPE files are used to extend the features and functionality of SPSS Statistics. SPE extension bundles are compressed and stored in ZIP format. SPE files are also used to store images and Raman spectra data captured by Princeton Instruments' Charged Couple Device (CCD) imaging devices such as spectrographs or the PIXIS camera. How to open SPE files

You need a suitable software like SPSS Statistics to open an SPE file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. Why is it important to know the file format? This is the only way to find out which program to use to open the file. Often, the file format can be deduced from the file extension or the initial bytes (called the signature). If the file extension or signature does not match the file format, errors will occur when opening or editing the file. If there are problems opening a file, you must first determine the file format used. Our evaluation of the SPE files is as follows:

SPE is a very common file type and includes different formats for different programs. The two most common formats are as follows:

• 35% of all SPE files have the same signature $SPEC_. These files are text files, so they contain words and text. The files are 10 KB to 82 KB in size, with a median of 20 KB. Such SPE files store data about survey, narrow, femos, jayaseelan, annealing, element, regions, before, clean, fresh, bare and esca.

All other SPE files (45%) have no uniform format, the following 30 formats can be found: Abuse Level, SPSS Extension, .NET, XML, DOC, UTF-16 (LE), UTF-8, FORMAT, ADVANTEST, Calcmet, APPLICATION, Name, SPE, SPEditor and SHIFR.
