What is an SPP file?

SPP files mostly belong to Substance by Adobe. SPP is the filename extension of project data such as the meshes, textures, and the configuration of a 3D model created with Substance Painter 3D texturing software. A different SPP format is used as the default file format for storing project files containing layers, layer effects, text, graphics, and metadata of an image edited with PhotoPlus photo editing software. MNS-Edit, a word processor for editing construction specifications, uses SPP files to store projects. Scrapbook Factory, a program for creating digital scrapbooks, saves some of its internal data in SPP files. SPPS, a statistics and analysis software used for data processing and business automation, save its production mode output data in SPP files. Assembly source code and C programming language pre-processor implicit dependency code used by sCons software build tool, are stored in SPP files. Plant Simulation, an industrial plant simulation software, uses SPP files to store plant simulation models.

How to open SPP files

You need a suitable software like Substance to open an SPP file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your SPP file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a SPP file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

SPP file format details:

If you can determine the file format, the associated program can also be determined. The initial characters of a file are called signature, sometimes also referred to as "magic bytes". The signature can be used to infer the file format. Frequently, however, one file extension is used by different programs for different file formats, and one file format for different file extensions. When there is a problem with a file, the first step to solving it is to determine the file format. Our evaluation of the SPP files is as follows:

An SPP file includes different formats for different programs. However, the following two file formats are common:

The remaining 45% of all SPP files are files with no common format, often, for example, Serif PhotoPlus Picture, XML and spp. They are often associated with invoice, project, aufgabe, billing, effect or family. Just click the "Choose your .spp file to analyze" button on this page to find out what your SPP file is.

an spp textures, meshes, and 3D model configuration is a special file format by Adobe and should only be edited and saved with the appropriate software.

How to solve problems with SPP files

  • Associate the SPP file extension with the correct application.
  • Update your software that should actually open textures, meshes, and 3d model configurations. Because only the current version supports the latest SPP file format. Search, therefore, e.g. on the Adobe manufacturer website after an available Substance update.
  • To make sure that your SPP file is not corrupted or virus-infected, get the file again and scan it with Google's virustotal.com.
  • Click here to open your .SPP file online - secure, fast, and no downloads needed.
