SXD file extension format:
Why is it important to know the file format? This is the only way to find out which program to use to open the file. The file format can be deduced from the file extension and the signature. If the file extension does not match the file format, double-clicking on the file will cause an error upon opening. Exact knowledge of the format is therefore important in order to solve problems occurring in files. Below you will find our evaluation of the SXD files:
SXD is not a common file extension and mainly uses a defined SXD format. The file formats most commonly found in SXD files are:
- 70% of all SXD files use ZIP compression, so several files are compressed and saved in one SXD file. Most often they are 6 to 20 compressed files. File names inside are content.xml, meta.xml, mimetype, settings.xml, styles.xml, \Configurations2\ and \META-INF\manifest.xml. You can see the included files and images by renaming the file extension to .zip and then double-clicking it. The files are often between 9 KB and 910 KB in size. Certain words are almost always found in the files, such as mimetypeapplication/vnd.sun.xml.drawPK, Configurations2/accelerator/current.xml and Configurations2/floater/PK.
- 10% of all SXD files use the Microsoft Compound File format, which is also known by the name OLE2 Compound Document Format or Composite Document File Format. This Windows file format has features similar to those of a filesystem format with virtual files and subfolders. Header signature for the CFB format with 8-byte Hex value D0CF11E0A1B11AE1 (which looks like "DOCFILE"). The unique Windows component object identifier is d4ba3f94-5b6c-4310-b61d-d4e7612196d0. The content consists of illegible binary data, which can only be read and interpreted by the associated programs. SXD files can be up to 1 MB in size, but are often around 300 KB - 930 KB.
All other SXD files (20%) have no uniform format. If you want to find out what your SXD file contains, drag and drop it onto this page.
