What is a TLD file?

TLD files mostly belong to Eclipse by Eclipse Foundation. A TLD file is an XML encoded document containing information about each custom tag in a library used to validate Jakarta Server Pages (previously JavaServer Pages). Jakarta Server Pages are scripts used to dynamically generate web pages in a Java environment. Eclispe, NetBeans, and other Java-compatible integrated development environments can be used to create a TLD file. Another type of TLD file is a test manual used by Solidworks computer-aided design/engineering software.

How to open a TLD file

You need a suitable software like Eclipse to open a TLD file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your TLD file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a TLD file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

How to solve problems with TLD files

  • Associate the TLD file extension with the correct application.
  • Update your software that should actually open tag library descriptors. Because only the current version supports the latest TLD file format. Search, therefore, e.g. on the Eclipse Foundation manufacturer website after an available Eclipse update.
  • To make sure that your TLD file is not corrupted or virus-infected, get the file again and scan it with Google's virustotal.com.
  • Click here to open your .TLD file online - secure, fast, and no downloads needed.
