What is a WBMP file?

WBMP files mostly belong to Photoshop by Adobe. WBMP is the filename extension of bi-level (black and white) images stored in the Wireless Bitmap format used by mobile phone applications that send and receive graphics over the Wireless Application Protocol. WBMP format is similar to BMP format, however, WBMP files can only store image data with 1-bit of precision per pixel. This means an 8 x 8 pixel image will require only 8 bytes (64 bits) of storage space. Black pixels in the image are denoted by "0" and white pixels are denoted by "1". The contents of a WBMP image begins with a Type declaration, followed by a fixed header (always "0"), the image's width in pixels, height, and pixel data stored as a byte array. Graphics processing software such as Photoshop, Illustrator, PaintShop, Inkscape, and ACDSee Photo Studio support WBMP image format.

How to open WBMP files

You need a suitable software like Photoshop to open a WBMP file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your WBMP file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a WBMP file directly in the browser:.
