What is a WEB file?

WEB files mostly belong to VLC Media Player. WebM Video and Multi‐Format Content: The WEB extension does not define one single file type. It is used by different programs to hold web-related content in several internal formats. For example:

WebM Video File: Many WEB files use the MKV (Matroska) container to store video. These files are played by media applications such as VLC Media Player. This is the most common use.

Bookmark or Web Form Data: Some files use a JSON structure to save web bookmarks or Smartsheet web form details.
