WV file extension format:
Why is it important to know the file format? This is the only way to find out which program to use to open the file. A file format is determined by the file extension and signature, so JPEG images have the extension .jpg and the first bytes in the file are ÿØÿ. However, different programs can use the same file extension. Furthermore, a file extension can be renamed incorrectly and double-clicking on it will then display an error when it is opened. If there are problems opening a file, you must first determine the file format used. In the following you will find our evaluation of the WV files:
WV is not a common file extension and is used by a few programs, each with its own file format. However, the following two file formats are common:
- 60% of all WV files are WavPack compressed audio files. These are binary files, so they do not contain words or text. The files are often between 5 KB and 1 GB in size. The file type was developed only in the last few years. Several words can almost always be found in the files, e.g. data, wvpk, WAVEfmt and RIFF. Such WV files store data about music, attack, blip, analog, dark, moon, side and tape.
The remaining 40% of all WV files are different files with different signatures. Files like these are sometimes linked to holdsworth, covers, tatuk or best. Just click the "Choose your .wv file to play" button on this page to find out what your WV file is.
