Opening a WXS File
The WXS file type is primarily associated with Visual Studio.
What is a WXS file?
How to open WXS files
You need a suitable software like Visual Studio to open a WXS file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your WXS file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a WXS file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

- Code::Blocks (resource) by Code::Blocks TeamCode::Blocks is an integrated development environment with C, C++, Pascal, and Fortran support. It uses a WXS file to save a resource for a user interface component created with its wxSmith feature. This file format is classified as Developer.
- Easy Cross (cross stitch design) by FulfordEasy Cross is a discontinued cross stitch design program for Windows. It uses a WXS file to store a cross-stitch design. This file format is classified as CAD.
WXS file format:
To view or edit WXS files you need to know the file format, because it determines how the data in this file is stored. The initial characters of a file are called signature, sometimes also referred to as "magic bytes". The signature can be used to infer the file format. File extension, signature and file format must match; otherwise errors will occur when the file is opened. So you need a detailed analysis of a file to find out the format and the associated program. Below is our analysis of the WXS files:
WXS is seldom used as a file extension and predominantly uses a uniform format. However, the following two file formats are common:
- 75% of all WXS files are Windows Installer XML Source files, which are using the popular XML file format. The Extensible Markup Language (XML) is a simple text-based format for representing structured information: documents, webpages, data, configuration, books, transactions, invoices, and much more. XML defines a set of rules for encoding documents in a format that is both human-readable and machine-readable. If you open these files in a text editor, you can view and read the content yourself. The file size is in the range of 2 KB to 19 KB. It is a modern file type. Several words can almost always be found in the files, e.g. <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>, <Wix xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/wix/2006/wi"> and <Product Id="584F5685-C0E5-4D84-B6F2-045B801A0BA1" Name="AntiMicro" Language="1033" Version="2.20.2". The file name AntiMicro_64.wxs or Product.wxs is typical for these files. Such WXS files store data about micro, anti and installer.
- 10% of all WXS files have the same signature 9D 65 5D 3E AB 0E 28 D3 E7 BC 8A 34 0D A2 E9 7D. If you open these files in a text editor, you will see only illegible characters. WXS files can be up to 44 KB in size, but are often around 7 KB - 26 KB. These files can be linked to person-related data.
The remaining 15% of all WXS files are different files with different signatures. Often described as setup. If you want to find out what your WXS file contains, drag and drop it onto this page.

a wxs source code is a special file format by Microsoft and should only be edited and saved with the appropriate software.
How to solve problems with WXS files
- Associate the WXS file extension with the correct application.
- Update your software that should actually open source codes. Because only the current version supports the latest WXS file format. Search, therefore, e.g. on the Microsoft manufacturer website after an available Visual Studio update.
- To make sure that your WXS file is not corrupted or virus-infected, get the file again and scan it with Google's virustotal.com.
- Click here to open your .WXS file online - secure, fast, and no downloads needed.
