What is a 3DP file?

3DP files mostly belong to 3D Plus by Serif. The 3DP file extension is one of many file types associated with 3D graphics and data files created or modified by software for 3D image manipulation. A 3DP file can contain different kinds of multimedia files including images, animations, documents, and videos. Autodesk's 123D Catch software uses the 3DP format to save 3D images generated from multiple 2D images by leveraging photo-stitching technology. 3DP is also the file format used to store computer CPU and GPU performance benchmarks that users can review within Futuremark's 3DMark03 software on a Windows platform. In a 3DPlus environment, the 3DP file extension is used to save a 3DPlus project that comprises a range of 3-dimensional graphics, web documents, effects etc. Although it's now considered a legacy format, 3DP files were quite common on Microsoft Windows.

How can I open a 3DP file?

You need a suitable software like 3D Plus to open a 3DP file. 10% of all 3DP files are based on the popular GZIP file format. Gzip is a compressed archive file format. Gzip (GNU zip) is only capable of compressing a single file. If you open these files in a text editor, you will see only illegible characters. 3DP files are between 3 KB and 5 KB in size. A usual file name is BlackDragon.3dp. Files like these are sometimes connected to person-related data.
