All about ABP Files
The ABP file type is primarily associated with Open Roberta Lab.
What is an ABP file
Another type is an Arduino Blockly Program file that uses an XML format to hold visual, block-based programming code. This version is often managed with tools like Open Roberta Lab.
In a different use case, the ABP format is used as a configuration file for industrial projects. Here the file is known as an ABB Ability Panel configuration or an Automation Studio Project File used by systems from companies such as TWN4 and AVEVA Plant.
How can I open an ABP file?
You need a suitable software like Open Roberta Lab to open an ABP file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your ABP file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a ABP file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

Programs that open and convert ABP files:
- Open Roberta Lab
See the previous paragraphs to learn more about the main application. ABP files are often referred to as Open Roberta Lab developers because this type of file is primarily created or used by this software.
- AVS Barcode Source (Barcode Profile) by Alver Valley SoftwareAVS Barcode Source is a Windows application designed to create image files containing barcodes. The barcodes can be of any size, with configurable parameters for setting colors, bar-width, height, quiet zone (to left and right of barcode), space at top and bottom of image, and various other parameters. This file stores details of a barcode profile, such as barcode format, sizing info, and source text. The Mime types used with this association are: text/plain. This file format is classified as Text.
ABP format details:
Every file has a defined file format, i.e. how the data is arranged in the file. The file format can be determined based on the file extension and the signature (the first few characters of a file). If the file extension does not match the file format, double-clicking on the file will cause an error upon opening. So you need a detailed analysis of a file to find out the format and the associated program. Our evaluation of the ABP files looks like this:
ABP is not a commonly used file extension and includes different formats for the applicable programs. However, the following two file formats are common:
- 30% of all ABP files are based on the zip format, multiple files are compressed and combined into one ABP file. The number of files included is on average 7 and ranges from 3 to 7. File names inside are a.dat, b.dat, event-subtypes.xml, fuel-types.xml, i.dat, metadata.inf, preferences.xml, sync-metadata.xml, trip-types.xml and vehicles.xml. If you want to see the included files and images, simply rename the file extension to .zip and double-click it. The files are often between 4 KB and 210 KB in size. Certain words are almost always found in the files, such as metadata.inf and i.dat. These files are often associated with arduinoblocks, auto and steamakers.
- 30% of all ABP files store the data in the XML file format. The Extensible Markup Language (XML) is a simple text-based format for representing structured information: documents, webpages, data, configuration, books, transactions, invoices, and much more. XML defines a set of rules for encoding documents in a format that is both human-readable and machine-readable. The content consists of readable text data, which can be read using a text editor. The files are 4 KB to 56 KB in size, with a median of 20 KB. The keywords <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="no"?> and <cb:CODEBLOCKS xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xsi:schemaLocation="http://education.mit.edu/openblocks/ns http://education are typical for these files. Such files sometimes refer to arduino and ardu.
All the rest of the ABP files (40%) have different formats. These files are often connected to project, cveg, biking or panzer. If you want to find out which format your ABP file belongs to, just click on the button "Choose your .abp file to analyze".
Technical Data for ABP File Extension
an abp project file is a special file format and should only be edited and saved with the appropriate software.
How to solve problems with ABP files
- Associate the ABP file extension with the correct application.
- Update your software that should actually open project files. Because only the current version supports the latest ABP file format. Search, therefore, e.g. on the manufacturer website after an available Open Roberta Lab update.
- To make sure that your ABP file is not corrupted or virus-infected, get the file again and scan it with Google's virustotal.com.
- Click here to open your .ABP file online - secure, fast, and no downloads needed.
