ADT file extension format:
The file format determines how the data is stored in the file. Often, the file format can be deduced from the file extension or the initial bytes (called the signature). Frequently, however, one file extension is used by different programs for different file formats, and one file format for different file extensions. Knowledge is power - this also applies when dealing with unknown or faulty files. Below is our analysis of the ADT files:
The ADT file extension predominantly uses a uniform format. The two most common formats are as follows:
- 65% of all ADT files are associated with Advantage Data Server table. These are binary files, so they do not contain words or text. A typical file size is 150 KB. The file type is old but is used even today. The files contain the following words: Advantage Table. These files can be linked to prparam, user, custom, export and report.
- 7% of all ADT files use the Microsoft Compound File format, also known as Compound File Binary File format (CFBF or CFB) or OLE2 Compound Document format. This Windows file format has features similar to those of a filesystem format with virtual files and subfolders. The file signature of compound files is defined as D0 CF 11 E0 A1 B1 1A E1, so the first character of a file looks like "DOCFILE". ADT files contain an app name Microsoft Office Word. The globally unique identifier of this file type is 00020906-0000-0000-c000-000000000046. The internal containers are called 1Table, CompObj, DocumentSummaryInformation, SummaryInformation and WordDocument. The file size is in the range of 34 KB to 900 KB. Files like these are about proposal.
The remaining 28% of all ADT files are different files with different signatures, the following 6 formats exist: Addict Thesaurus, REVM and ADT. These files sometimes refer to letter, audit, kalimdor or data. Drag & drop your file here to see the file format and a preview of your ADT file!

How to solve problems with ADT files
- Associate the ADT file extension with the correct application.
- Update your software that should actually open projects. Because only the current version supports the latest ADT file format. Search, therefore, e.g. on the Eclipse manufacturer website after an available Eclipse update.
- To make sure that your ADT file is not corrupted or virus-infected, get the file again and scan it with Google's virustotal.com.
- Click here to open your .ADT file online - secure, fast, and no downloads needed.
