What is an AFI file
How to open AFI files
You need a suitable software like Truevision Bitmap Graphic to open an AFI file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your AFI file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a AFI file directly in the browser:. AFI file format:
Each file has a definite file format, that is, how the stored data is arranged in the file. The initial characters of a file are called signature, sometimes also referred to as "magic bytes". The signature can be used to infer the file format. However, different programs can use the same file extension, and file extensions can be assigned incorrectly. If there are problems opening a file, you must first determine the file format used. Our evaluation of the AFI files looks like this:
As a file extension, AFI isn't very common and mainly uses a defined AFI format. The two most common formats are as follows:
- 70% of all AFI files have the same signature BIFH\. If you open these files in a text editor, you will see only illegible characters. The files are on average 580 MB in size and range from 380 KB to 48 GB. The file type is relatively new. Certain words are almost always found in the files, such as BIFH\ and My File Backup. The file name My File Backup.afi or MyFileBackup.afi is typical for these files. Such files are related to backup, myfile, seguridad, archivo, bestandsback, mijn and fichiers.
- 15% of all AFI files start with the bytes 1,, crucial for this file format. These files are plain text, which means they can be viewed with any text editor such as Windows Editor, Nano for Linux, and TextEdit for macOS. Most of these files are 170 bytes to 6 KB in size. The file name 20180601.AFI is characteristic of these files. Such AFI files store data about payment, export and weekly.
The remaining 15% of all AFI files are different files with different signatures, frequently e.g. ETIAFI. If you want to find out what your AFI file contains, drag and drop it onto this page.
