All about APBX Files
The APBX file type is primarily associated with 7-Zip.
What is an APBX file
To open the file, use an extraction tool such as 7-Zip. This will allow you to access the compressed contents.
Details:
- The file uses the 7z internal format.
- It is designed for exporting Atlassian Playbook data.
- Some versions may be associated with products from ReviOS.
FilExt.com tip: Because it is a compressed archive, proper extraction tools are needed to view and manage its contents.
How to open APBX files
You need a suitable software like 7-Zip to open an APBX file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your APBX file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a APBX file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

Programs that open and convert APBX files:
- 7-Zip
See the previous paragraphs to learn more about the main application. APBX files are often referred to as 7-Zip compresseds because this type of file is primarily created or used by this software.
- Atlassian PlaybookAn APBX file is a compressed archive, predominantly employing the 7z format, created by Atlassian Playbook. It encapsulates exported data, enabling users to transfer and restore playbook configurations, including runbooks, automations, and other essential components. This facilitates sharing, backup, and migration of playbooks across different Atlassian Playbook instances or for archival purposes. The 7-Zip compression employed ensures efficient storage and transfer of these potentially large datasets. This file format is classified as Compressed Archive.
APBX file format:
The file format determines how the data is stored in the file. The file format can be deduced from the file extension and the signature. If the file extension or signature does not match the file format, errors will occur when opening or editing the file. Knowledge is power - this also applies when dealing with unknown or faulty files. Below you will find our evaluation of the APBX files:
You will often come across the APBX file type. This is used by a few programs, each with its own file format. However, the following two file formats are common:
- 50% of all APBX files store the data in the 7z file format. 7z is a compressed archive file format that supports several different data compression, encryption and pre-processing algorithms. The content consists of illegible binary data, which can only be read and interpreted by the associated programs. The average file size is 1 MB with most files being between 1 MB and 43 MB in size. The file type is very recent. An example of a file name is Revi-PB-25.10.apbx or Revi-PB-24.12.apbx. Such files sometimes refer to revi, playbook, vain, sapphireos, atlas, beta, xlst and fsos.
- 25% of all APBX files are based on the zip format, that is, an APBX file includes multiple compressed files. An APBX file can contain up to 130 files (mostly 104 - 130). File names inside are always playbook.conf, playbook.png, \Executables\BACKUP.ps1, \Executables\CLEANUP.ps1, \Executables\CLIENTCBS.ps1, \Executables\DISABLENOTIFS.cmd, \Executables\DISABLEPNP.ps1, \Executables\ENABLENOTIFS.cmd, \Executables\FILEASSOC.cmd, \Executables\LIBREWOLF.ps1, \Executables\Layout.xml, \Executables\NGEN.ps1, \Executables\ONED.cmd, \Executables\PFP.ps1, \Executables\SHORTCUTS.ps1, \Executables\SOFTWARE.ps1, \Executables\STARTMENU.ps1, \Executables\TASKBARPINS.ps and \Images\. If you want to see the included files and images, simply rename the file extension to .zip and double-click it. The files are on average 9 MB in size and range from 9 MB to 48 MB. The following keywords are characteristic: build-playbook.cmd, Q(p*v and tbL0. Examples of file names are AtlasPlaybook_v0.4.1.apbx or AtlasPlaybook_v0.5.0.apbx. Such APBX files store data about hotfix, lite, custom and crab.
All other APBX files (25%) have no uniform format. The category is vainos, playbookx, common, privacy, rapidos, novaos, grzos or free. If you want to find out which format your APBX file belongs to, just click on the button "Choose your .apbx file to analyze".
Technical Data for APBX File Extension
an apbx archive file is a special file format and should only be edited and saved with the appropriate software.
How to solve problems with APBX files
- Associate the APBX file extension with the correct application.
- Update your software that should actually open archive files. Because only the current version supports the latest APBX file format. Search, therefore, e.g. on the manufacturer website after an available 7-Zip update.
- To make sure that your APBX file is not corrupted or virus-infected, get the file again and scan it with Google's virustotal.com.
- Click here to open your .APBX file online - secure, fast, and no downloads needed.
