Opening ARS Files
The ARS file type is primarily associated with ARS Viewer.
What is an ARS file
Some files use the ARKEL ARS file format to store system-specific data. Other ARS files serve as an Automated Report System file, typically managed by software like ARS Viewer and sometimes referred to as a Topiramate data storage format.
Additional uses include:
How can I open an ARS file?
You need a suitable software like ARS Viewer to open an ARS file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your ARS file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a ARS file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

ARS file format:
If you know the file format, you can also find out how to open or edit the file. Each file format has a unique extension and almost always a unique signature. For example, Microsoft Word documents have the extension .docx and the signature (usually the first 3 characters in this file) PK. File extension, signature and file format must match; otherwise errors will occur when the file is opened. So you need a detailed analysis of a file to find out the format and the associated program. Our evaluation of the ARS files looks like this:
An ARS file is used by different programs with different formats. The following file formats are most commonly found in ARS files:
- 50% of all ARS files start with the magic bytes GVAS, which are always the first bytes of this file format. The contents of these files cannot be read by a human; only a computer program can interpret the data. Most of these files are 1 MB to 85 MB in size. The file type is a fairly new file format. The files contain the following words: ++UE5+Release-5.3 and GVAS. The file name 20180601.ars is characteristic of these files.
- 15% of all ARS files have the same signature ---ARKEL-ARS-FILE---. These files contain neither text nor words, but only data. The average file size is 5 MB with most files being between 1 MB and 6 MB in size. The keywords ARKEL and FILE are typical for these files. The following filename is common: 24122751.ars.
The remaining 35% of all ARS files are different files with different signatures, such as Carmageddon Saved Game, XML, DOC, RIFX, DXS, ARS and VERSION. Tagged as save. If you want to find out which format your ARS file belongs to, just click on the button "Choose your .ars file to analyze".

How to solve problems with ARS files
- Associate the ARS file extension with the correct application.
- Update your software that should actually open data files. Because only the current version supports the latest ARS file format. Search, therefore, e.g. on the manufacturer website after an available ARS Viewer update.
- To make sure that your ARS file is not corrupted or virus-infected, get the file again and scan it with Google's virustotal.com.
- Click here to open your .ARS file online - secure, fast, and no downloads needed.
