What is an AUR file

AUR files mostly belong to Phoenix FD. AUR files work in different ways based on the application that creates them.

An Aura settings / Arch User Repository file is another use. In this case, the file holds configuration settings for an application such as Aura Kingdom or serves as a build script in Arch Linux systems (managed by tools like yay).

How to open AUR files

You need a suitable software like Phoenix FD to open an AUR file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. A file format defines how the data in the file is structured. A file format is determined by the file extension and signature, so JPEG images have the extension .jpg and the first bytes in the file are ÿØÿ. Nonetheless, different programs can utilize the same file extension to represent distinct file formats. Double-clicking on the file often results in an error when opening. So you need a detailed analysis of a file to find out the format and the associated program. Our analysis of the AUR files produces the following result:

AUR is not a common file extension and covers different formats for different programs. But the following two file formats are common:

• 30% of all AUR files use the same file format, which can be identified by the letters "AURA" at the beginning. If you open these files in a text editor, you will see only illegible characters. AUR files are between 4 KB and 18 MB in size. It is a modern file type. Certain words are almost always found in the files, such as AURA. Some examples of file names are PhoenixFDFire001_0000.aur or PhoenixFDLiquid001_0000.aur.
• 20% of all AUR files start with the magic bytes #AURþÿ , which are always the first bytes of this file format. They consist of illegible, cryptic characters. Most of these files are 7 KB to 22 KB in size. Several words can almost always be found in the files, e.g. #AUR. The file name aura_setting.aur is typical for these files. These files are attributed to setting and aura.
