Opening BCO Files
The BCO file type is primarily associated with BCOPLUS.
What is a BCO file?
BCO files are used in two distinct ways. The majority of these files serve as a backup configuration log file created by BCOPLUS. These files record system settings and calibration data that help restore configurations—often linked to Barco color calibration.
FilExt.com tips: To open and view a BCO file, use the specific software that created it. If the file is from BCOPLUS, a backup or calibration tool is needed. If it is a cabinet quote file, then Cabinet Vision ERP will be required.
How can I open a BCO file?
You need a suitable software like BCOPLUS to open a BCO file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your BCO file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a BCO file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

BCO file format details:
Each file has a definite file format, that is, how the stored data is arranged in the file. The file format can be determined based on the file extension and the signature (the first few characters of a file). If the file extension does not match the file format, double-clicking on the file will cause an error upon opening. So you need a detailed analysis of a file to find out the format and the associated program. Our evaluation of the BCO files looks like this:
The BCO file extension is not found very often and predominantly uses a uniform format. However, the following two file formats are common:
- 75% of all BCO files start with the magic bytes BCO, which are always the first bytes of this file format. The contents of these files cannot be read by a human; only a computer program can interpret the data. BCO files can be up to 520 MB in size, but are often around 200 KB - 81 MB. This file type is based on cutting-edge technology. The file name SRVBACKUP_2020-06-01 10-30.bco is characteristic of these files. These files can be linked to veeam, backup, white, desktop, color, configuration, circles, config and server.
- 9% of all BCO files have the same signature "999<#>. These files are text files and can therefore be read using a text editor. A typical file size is 15 KB. Several words can almost always be found in the files, e.g. "999<#>XFR<#>BridgewoodEvolutionFrameless", KITCHEN and "999<#>XFL<#>BridgewoodEvolutionFramed". Quote.bco is a typical file name. Such files sometimes refer to kitchen, and include person-related information.
All other BCO files (16%) have different formats, the following 4 formats can be found: Bitstream Compressed Outline font and DOC. You can get all the details of your BCO file by dragging it onto this page or by clicking the button "Choose your .bco file to analyze" above.

How to solve problems with BCO files
- Associate the BCO file extension with the correct application.
- Update your software that should actually open configuration files. Because only the current version supports the latest BCO file format. Search, therefore, e.g. on the manufacturer website after an available BCOPLUS update.
- To make sure that your BCO file is not corrupted or virus-infected, get the file again and scan it with Google's virustotal.com.
