What is a C4 file?
How to open a C4 file
You need a suitable software like XnView to open a C4 file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your C4 file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a C4 file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

- Central (data) by OrboxCentral is a cross-platform program for installing Orbx digital products on Windows, Mac, and Linux operating system. Orbx products downloaded via Central are stored in a ZIP-based C4 file. This file format is classified as Data.
C4 file format details:
The file format, which is the arrangement and type of data in a file, determines which program can open the file. A file format is determined by the file extension and signature, so JPEG images have the extension .jpg and the first bytes in the file are ÿØÿ. If the file extension does not match the file format, double-clicking on the file will cause an error upon opening. If there are problems opening a file, you must first determine the file format used. Our analysis of the C4 files produces the following result:
The C4 file extension is very common and mainly uses a special format. However, the following two file formats are common:
- 90% of all C4 files are JEDMICS C4 files. The content consists of illegible binary data, which can only be read and interpreted by the associated programs. C4 files are between 33 KB and 210 KB in size. The file type was used 20 years ago but is still in use today. Files like these have the following tags: panel, opti, assembly, charging, handle and null.
- 4% of all C4 files are based on the zip format, so several files are combined and compressed into one C4 file. If you'd like to see the images and files included, just rename the file extension to .zip and double-click. A typical file size is 1 GB. The file name lowi-xp11-40165324-7836-474b-800d-8c15cbc5199c.f.c4 is characteristic of these files. Such files sometimes refer to orbxlibs and lowi.
All other C4 files (6%) have different formats. Files like these are sometimes linked to orbxlibs, lowi or garwood. If you want to find out what your C4 file contains, drag and drop it onto this page.
