All about CEP Files
The CEP file type is primarily associated with Adobe Captivate.
What is a CEP file?
FilExt.com note: The abbreviation CEP may be interpreted differently by each creator. In some contexts it stands for a Corel Encapsulated Project, while in others it can be seen as a Captivate Export Package or similar term appropriate to the project domain.
How to open CEP files
You need a suitable software like Adobe Captivate to open a CEP file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your CEP file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a CEP file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

CEP file format details:
Every file has a defined file format, i.e. how the data is arranged in the file. Each file format has a unique extension and almost always a unique signature. For example, Microsoft Word documents have the extension .docx and the signature (usually the first 3 characters in this file) PK. File extension, signature and file format must match; otherwise errors will occur when the file is opened. So you need a detailed analysis of a file to find out the format and the associated program. Our evaluation of the CEP files is as follows:
The CEP file extension is not found very often and is used by different programs with different formats. The two most common formats are as follows:
- 50% of all CEP files use the ZIP format, i.e. a CEP file contains several compressed files. A CEP file can contain up to 130 files (mostly 7 - 100). File names are e.g. dbinfo.txt, json.txt and \Admin\. If you want to see the included files and images, simply rename the file extension to .zip and double-click it. Most of these files are 670 KB to 31 MB in size. Several words can almost always be found in the files, e.g. images. Such files sometimes refer to project, package, chitanava, inzhener and resort, and have often person-related content.
- 15% of all CEP files are based on the popular GZIP file format. Gzip is a compressed archive file format. Gzip (GNU zip) is only capable of compressing a single file. These files contain neither text nor words, but only data. Most of these files are 6 KB to 12 KB in size. These files are attributed to highlanders.
All other CEP files (35%) have no uniform format, frequently e.g. obj. Often described as abworders, tracing, orders or time. If you want to find out which format your CEP file belongs to, just click on the button "Choose your .cep file to analyze".

How to solve problems with CEP files
- Associate the CEP file extension with the correct application.
- Update your software that should actually open compressed project files. Because only the current version supports the latest CEP file format. Search, therefore, e.g. on the manufacturer website after an available Adobe Captivate update.
- To make sure that your CEP file is not corrupted or virus-infected, get the file again and scan it with Google's virustotal.com.
- Click here to open your .CEP file online - secure, fast, and no downloads needed.
