Opening a CL File
The CL file type is primarily associated with OpenCL.
What is a CL file
How to open CL files
You need a suitable software like OpenCL to open a CL file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your CL file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a CL file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

Programs that open and convert CL files:
- OpenCL by Khronos
See the previous paragraphs to learn more about the main application. CL files are often referred to as OpenCL developers because this type of file is primarily created or used by this software.
- ArtIcons (cursor library) by Aha-softArtIcons is an icon design program for Windows desktop. A cursor library created by this program is saved in a CL file. This file format is classified as Raster Image.
- CLwin (project) by Procedimientos-UnoCLwin is a program used to design and model air conditioning and ventilation solutions for a building. It saves a project in a CL file. This file format is classified as CAD.
- Common Lisp (script) by Common Lisp MaintainersCommon Lisp is the compiler for scripts and programs written in Common Lisp programming language. It can execute a CL (Common Lisp) script. This file format is classified as Developer.
- IRAF (script) by NOAOIRAF (short for Image Reduction and Analysis Facility) is a software package to reduce astronomy images. Its login script is saved in a CL file written in IRAF's command language. This file format is classified as Developer.
CL file format:
Each file has a definite file format, that is, how the stored data is arranged in the file. The initial characters of a file are called signature, sometimes also referred to as "magic bytes". The signature can be used to infer the file format. However, different programs can use the same file extension. Furthermore, a file extension can be renamed incorrectly and double-clicking on it will then display an error when it is opened. Knowledge is power - this also applies when dealing with unknown or faulty files. Our analysis of the CL files produces the following result:
The CL file extension is not found very often and includes very many different file formats. The two most popular formats are as follows:
- 10% of all CL files save the data in Source file format. A source code is the set of instructions written by a programmer using a computer programming language like JavaScript, C++ or Basic. This code is translated into machine language by a compiler. The translated result is called app, program or executable. The content consists of readable text data, which can be read using a text editor. The average file size is 19 KB with most files being between 2 KB and 36 KB in size. The following keywords are characteristic: * Author......: See docs/credits.txt, * License.....: MIT, #include "inc_vendor.cl", #include "inc_hash_constants.h", #define NEW_SIMD_CODE and #include "inc_hash_functions.cl". Such CL files store data about optimized.
- 10% of all CL files start with the bytes VER_1 crucial for this file format. They consist of unreadable binary data. The files are on average 510 KB in size and range from 330 KB to 900 KB. The following keywords are characteristic: VER_1. Some examples of file names are CLE_file_index.cl or CLE_file_index[1].cl. These files are often associated with index.
All the rest of the CL files (80%) have different formats, such as JSON and LOGIN. These files sometimes refer to pexa, automation, jefigsckt, color or code. You can get all the details of your CL file by dragging it onto this page or by clicking the button "Choose your .cl file to analyze" above.

a cl script is a special file format by Khronos and should only be edited and saved with the appropriate software.
How to solve problems with CL files
- Associate the CL file extension with the correct application.
- Update your software that should actually open scripts. Because only the current version supports the latest CL file format. Search, therefore, e.g. on the Khronos manufacturer website after an available OpenCL update.
- To make sure that your CL file is not corrupted or virus-infected, get the file again and scan it with Google's virustotal.com.
- Click here to open your .CL file online - secure, fast, and no downloads needed.
