Opening a CO File

The CO file type is primarily associated with 3D Studio Max.

COFile Extension CO
File extension: CO
File type:  data file

What is a CO file?

CO files mostly belong to 3D Studio Max. Your CO file may not be what it seems. It can be used by different programs and hold very different kinds of data.
If your file was created by a 3D design tool, it might be a 3D model geometry file used by 3D Studio Max. This file stores data for models and can be viewed in that software. For details, check out Autodesk 3ds Max overview.
It is also possible that the file holds graph node coordinates for experiments or algorithm challenges. Such files, used in competitions like those by the DIMACS Implementation Challenge, store coordinate data for graph vertices. More details are available at DIMACS Challenge.
Other uses include:
  • PDF Document: The CO file can use the PDF format, so a standard PDF reader will open it.
  • Video Content: It may be a video container holding MKV or MP4 data. Players like VLC Media Player handle these formats; see VLC Media Player for MKV support.
  • Compressed Office File: Sometimes this file acts as a renamed ZIP archive used by Microsoft PowerPoint. More info is on the Microsoft PowerPoint page.
  • JPEG Image Data: In some cases, it holds JFIF (JPEG) data that can be edited with tools like Adobe Photoshop.
  • Blink Saved Web Page: It may also be a saved web page or MIME encoded email file, which opens in Google Chrome (Chrome).
  • FilExt.com note: This variety means you should verify the file’s internal header or use a file-identification tool to decide which program to use for viewing or editing the content.

    How to open CO files

You need a suitable software like 3D Studio Max to open a CO file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your CO file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a CO file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

Programs that open and convert CO files:

    1. 3D Studio Max
See the previous paragraphs to learn more about the main application. CO files are often referred to as 3D Studio Max 3d images because this type of file is primarily created or used by this software.
    2. Cobalt v8 (3D file) by Ashlar-Vellum
This file format is classified as CAD/CAM.
    3. Cult3D (ActiveX Player Application) by Cycore Systems AB
Cult3D is a real-time virtual rendering engine that lets users fully interact with advanced 3D animations on-line. The identifying characters used for this association are - Hex: 43 33 44 46 30 39 34 30, ASCII: C3DF0940. Related links: To View Cult3D Objects

    CO file format:

If you know the file format, you can also find out how to open or edit the file. The first characters in a file identify the file format, for example, HTML files start with the bytes <html>. If the file extension does not match the file format, double-clicking on the file will cause an error upon opening. When there is a problem with a file, the first step to solving it is to determine the file format. Below is our analysis of the CO files:

CO is not a commonly used file extension and includes very many different file formats. The file formats most commonly found in CO files are:

The remaining 75% of all CO files are different files with different signatures, often, for example, Ashlar-Vellum 3D models, PDF, MKV, JFIF and MP4. These files sometimes refer to movie, hindi, verse, free, connection, kathmandu, pattern, seating or puzzle. Drag & drop your file here to see the file format and a preview of your CO file!

a co data file is a special file format and should only be edited and saved with the appropriate software.

How to solve problems with CO files

    • Associate the CO file extension with the correct application.
    • Update your software that should actually open data files. Because only the current version supports the latest CO file format. Search, therefore, e.g. on the manufacturer website after an available 3D Studio Max update.
    • To make sure that your CO file is not corrupted or virus-infected, get the file again and scan it with Google's virustotal.com.
    • Click here to open your .CO file online - secure, fast, and no downloads needed.
