What is a CRYPT file?

CRYPT files mostly belong to WhatsApp. CRYPT files are files that store encrypted databases. They are mainly used by WhatsApp to keep chat backups secure.
These files use an underlying SQLite structure that has been altered with encryption. This means the contained chat messages and records are hidden unless decrypted properly.

How do you open CRYPT files?

Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert.
