What is a CWS file

CWS files mostly belong to Songtrix by ChordWizard. A CWS file contains a song composed using Songtrix professional music composition and song arrangement program. This CWS file is similar to MIDI. However, it is capable of saving chords, staff notation, notes, and generic music arrangements. The format provides an optional digital rights management feature which musicians may activate in order to prevent unauthorized copying, printing, and/or editing of a song. Song credits and links can also be embedded in a music arrangement saved in a CWS file. Songs (CWS files) written with Songtrix be exported as WAV or MP3 music.

How do you open CWS files?

You need a suitable software like Songtrix to open a CWS file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your CWS file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a CWS file directly in the browser:. The file format determines how the data is stored in the file. The file format can be determined based on the file extension and the signature (the first few characters of a file). If the file extension or signature does not match the file format, errors will occur when opening or editing the file. Sections and streams in the file are named Doc, Doc_BGR_Raster_Preview_Storage, Doc_BGR_Raster_Preview_Stream, DocumentSummaryInformation, EmbRasterDictionary_Storage, EmbRasterDictionary_Stream, SummaryInformation and EmdRasterStream0. Most of these files are 100 KB to 980 KB in size.
