All about CYP Files
The CYP file type is primarily associated with CYPECAD.
What is a CYP file?
Some of these files are construction project files, using a GZIP internal format. They are created by CYPECAD and other engineering tools to store building design data and planning information.
Other CYP files work as CAD-Planner project files from the same development background. They may be known as CyberMotion Project Files under similar systems.
There is also a variant used as a Neo4j Cypher Query File. This variant contains database query scripts that work with the Cypher language. For further details see the Neo4j Cypher Manual.
Another usage is for electronic design: CYP files can be Crocodile Circuits Project files containing circuit simulation data, used by Crocodile Clips or linked with CircuitLogix.
Usage tips:
How to open a CYP file
You need a suitable software like CYPECAD to open a CYP file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your CYP file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a CYP file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

Programs that open and convert CYP files:
- CYPECAD
See the previous paragraphs to learn more about the main application. CYP files are often referred to as CYPECAD cads because this type of file is primarily created or used by this software.
- Crocodile Physics (Simulation File) by Crocodile Clips Ltd.Crocodile Physics is a simulator which lets teachers and students model physics experiments on-screen. The identifying characters used for this association are - Hex: FF FF 02 00 08 00 43 43 69 72 63 75 69 74, ASCII: ÿÿ CCircuit.
- Cypherus Encrypted Archive
- FCB Cypher (Knot Diagram) by International Guild of Knot TyersThe FCB Cypher was designed to be a means of communicating a knot structure using a string of text characters which can be sent via a simple email, forum post or even communicated by spoken word in an unambiguous manner. The structure of the cypher is credited to Frank Charles Brown. The file itself is a text file that can be opened in any text editor. This file format is classified as Text.
Technical Data for CYP File Extension
The following listing is compiled from the database produced by the 'Associate This!' program, selected data from the main FILExt database and file extension information submitted by users.
EXEFile: %ProgramFiles%\CROCOD~1\CROCOD~2.5\CrocPhys.exe %1
EXEFile: %ProgramFiles%\Cypherus\Cypherus.exe -o
a cyp project file is a special file format and should only be edited and saved with the appropriate software.
How to solve problems with CYP files
- Associate the CYP file extension with the correct application.
- Update your software that should actually open project files. Because only the current version supports the latest CYP file format. Search, therefore, e.g. on the manufacturer website after an available CYPECAD update.
- To make sure that your CYP file is not corrupted or virus-infected, get the file again and scan it with Google's virustotal.com.
- Click here to open your .CYP file online - secure, fast, and no downloads needed.
