All about DT0 Files
The DT0 file type is primarily associated with DTED Elevation Extractor.
What is a DT0 file?
They typically come in two forms:
FilExt.com tip: If you have a DT0 file, first check its content structure. Use a GIS or a DTED viewer to examine terrain data, or if it appears as an image file, try a regular image viewer.
How do you open DT0 files?
You need a suitable software like DTED Elevation Extractor to open a DT0 file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your DT0 file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a DT0 file directly in the browser:. Programs that open and convert DT0 files:
- DTED Elevation Extractor
See the previous paragraphs to learn more about the main application. DT0 files are often referred to as DTED Elevation Extractor gis because this type of file is primarily created or used by this software.
- DTED (Level 0) by National Geospatial-Intelligence AgencyA data file of DTED (Digital Terrain Elevation Data) is a cell defined by latitudes and longitudes of a geographic reference system. The terrain elevation information is expressed in meters. The locations of elevation posts are defined by the intersections of rows and columns within a matrix. The required matrix intervals, defined in terms of geographic arc seconds, vary according to latitude. DT0 is generally 30 arcseconds.
DT0 file format:
Each file has a definite file format, that is, how the stored data is arranged in the file. A file format is determined by the file extension and signature, so JPEG images have the extension .jpg and the first bytes in the file are ÿØÿ. Frequently, however, one file extension is used by different programs for different file formats, and one file format for different file extensions. Exact knowledge of the format is therefore important in order to solve problems occurring in files. In the following you will find our evaluation of the DT0 files:
DT0 is not a common file extension and includes different formats for the applicable programs. However, the following two file formats are common:
- 30% of all DT0 files are Digital Terrain Elevation Data files. The content consists of illegible binary data, which can only be read and interpreted by the associated programs. The files are often between 18 KB and 34 KB in size. The file type was used 20 years ago. Several words can almost always be found in the files, e.g. DSIU, DTED and USNIMASL. n31.dt0 or n04.dt0 is a typical file name.
- 9% of all DT0 files are using the well-known JFIF file format to store the data. JFIF is short for JPEG File Interchange Format. It is a bitmap graphic that uses JPEG compression. These are binary files, so they do not contain words or text. A typical file size is 130 MB. The keywords $.' ",#, '9=82<.342, (7),01444, JFIF and *Intel(R) JPEG Library, version 1,5,4,36 are typical for these files. A usual file name is 20180601.DT0.
All the rest of the DT0 files (61%) have different formats, the following 4 formats can be found: NUMERO. These files sometimes refer to role. If you want to find out what your DT0 file contains, drag and drop it onto this page.
Technical Data for DT0 File Extension
a dt0 digital terrain elevation data file is a special file format and should only be edited and saved with the appropriate software.
How to solve problems with DT0 files
- Associate the DT0 file extension with the correct application.
- Update your software that should actually open digital terrain elevation data files. Because only the current version supports the latest DT0 file format. Search, therefore, e.g. on the manufacturer website after an available DTED Elevation Extractor update.
- To make sure that your DT0 file is not corrupted or virus-infected, get the file again and scan it with Google's virustotal.com.
- Click here to open your .DT0 file online - secure, fast, and no downloads needed.
