What is an EA file

EA files mostly belong to Kindle by Amazon. An EA file contains information displayed after the last page of a Kindle e-book (AZW or AZW3) file. Information stored in an EA file is XML-encoded. It usually contains Amazon Standard Identification Number, and International Standard Book Number information about other books written by the same author, or books purchased by customers who also bought the book a user has just finished reading. Games built with a discontinued version of Unreal engine used EA files to save game states and progress (usually called quicksaves).

How do you open EA files?

You need a suitable software like Kindle to open an EA file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. Why is it important to know the file format? This is the only way to find out which program to use to open the file. Each file format has a unique extension and almost always a unique signature. EA is seldom used as a file extension and is used by a few programs, each with its own file format. However, the following two file formats are common:

• 45% of all EA files start with the bytes 00 00 00 00 00 00 20 4C 04 crucial for this file format. They consist of illegible, cryptic characters. EA files are between 70 MB and 190 MB in size. The file type is very recent. The following keywords are characteristic: ZISP, Ver 7 and AZIS. A common filename is Auto.ea or quickstart.ea. Such files are related to quicksave.
• 15% of all EA files use the popular GZIP file format. Gzip is a compressed archive file format. Gzip (GNU zip) is only capable of compressing a single file. The content consists of illegible binary data, which can only be read and interpreted by the associated programs. Most of these files are 350 bytes to 880 bytes in size. Such EA files store data about book, asin, type and ebok.
