What is an ECC file?

ECC files mostly belong to dvdisaster by Carsten Gnörlich. ECC stands for Error Correction file. ECC file extension is used as a data file by the dvdisaster application.

• Main Use: dvdisaster is a program used for the prevention of data loss on CD/DVD/Blu-ray discs. The information related to the error-correcting codes is stored in the ECC files. ECC files save information about the original files and folder structure which can later be used to cross check and compare whether the information has been altered in any form or has become corrupt. ECC files are also used by Essential Taceo email security software. Essential Taceo email security program uses ECC files to store crypto containers that are created when the protection of email contents by the software is turned on. The ECC files ensure data is secured from theft and unauthorized access.

How can I open an ECC file?

You need a suitable software like dvdisaster to open an ECC file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert.
