What is an EPUB file

EPUB files mostly belong to Apple Books by Apple. An EPUB file is an e-book saved in Electronic Publication format. A single EPUB file is actually a ZIP-compressed archive with a different filename extension. It contains data encoded using Open Packaging Format, Open Container Format, and Open Publication Structure Specification. Such data includes one or more XHTML documents, images, and metadata which can be parsed and rendered by e-book readers such as Apple Books, Calibre, and Digital Editions.
