Opening FEL Files
The FEL file type is primarily associated with FlukeView Power Analyze.
What is a FEL file?
How to open FEL files
You need a suitable software like FlukeView Power Analyze to open a FEL file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your FEL file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a FEL file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

Programs that open and convert FEL files:
- FlukeView Power Analyze
See the previous paragraphs to learn more about the main application. FEL files are often referred to as FlukeView Power Analyze data files because this type of file is primarily created or used by this software.
- FlukeView Power AnalyzeA *.FEL file is a specialized file format primarily associated with Fluke Corporation's power and energy logging devices, such as the Fluke 1730. These files store detailed measurements of electrical parameters, enabling analysis of power quality, energy consumption, and other related metrics. The data within *.FEL files is structured to facilitate visualization and reporting using Fluke's software tools. It plays a crucial role in assessing electrical systems for efficiency, stability, and compliance with industry standards. This file format is classified as Energy Data.
FEL format details:
Each file has a definite file format, that is, how the stored data is arranged in the file. The initial characters of a file are called signature, sometimes also referred to as "magic bytes". The signature can be used to infer the file format. However, different programs can use the same file extension, and file extensions can be assigned incorrectly. If there are problems opening a file, you must first determine the file format used. Our evaluation of the FEL files looks like this:
You will often come across the FEL file type. This predominantly uses a uniform format. But the following two file formats are common:
- 95% of all FEL files start with the bytes 0B BA 14 00 crucial for this file format. They consist of unreadable binary data. The files are often between 98 KB and 70 MB in size. The file type is a fairly new file format. Such files sometimes refer to meter, logger, panel, load and mops.
- 4% of all FEL files use the same file format, which can be identified by the letters "(define ((type " at the beginning. These files are text files and can therefore be read using a text editor. The files are often between 1 KB and 100 KB in size. The files contain the following words: (fel_version 0.1), name, comment, (length_type "Both"), (define ((type punch), attach_type, (punch_category "Std") and (punch_type "Std"). Examples of file names are AFH_punch_A.fel or Punch.fel.
All other FEL files (1%) have different formats. If you want to find out which format your FEL file belongs to, just click on the button "Choose your .fel file to analyze".
Technical Data for FEL File Extension
a fel data file is a special file format and should only be edited and saved with the appropriate software.
How to solve problems with FEL files
- Associate the FEL file extension with the correct application.
- Update your software that should actually open data files. Because only the current version supports the latest FEL file format. Search, therefore, e.g. on the manufacturer website after an available FlukeView Power Analyze update.
- To make sure that your FEL file is not corrupted or virus-infected, get the file again and scan it with Google's virustotal.com.
- Click here to open your .FEL file online - secure, fast, and no downloads needed.
