What is an FFF file?

FFF files mostly belong to Phocus by Hasselblad. An FFF file is mainly used to store a RAW image encoded in Flexible File Format (also known as Hasselblad 3F or Imacon 3F format). The image stored in an FFF file is usually captured by a Hasselblad or Imacon digital camera or scanner. FFF format is based on TIFF format; it stores high quality, uncompressed graphics data exactly as captured by the CCD sensor on a digital imaging device. Phocus is Hasselblad's default program for viewing and retouching FFF images. Preview, Photoshop, and PaintShop can also open and export FFF images. Pegasus Mail email management software uses a form fact saved in an FFF file. Additional information about each form fact in a Pegasus Mail installation is saved in the fff.txt file in the WinPMail program directory or its "Resource" sub directory. Simplify3D 3D model slicing and printing software saves slicer profiles (settings) in an FFF file.

How do you open FFF files?

You need a suitable software like Phocus to open an FFF file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your FFF file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a FFF file directly in the browser:. How do you convert FFF files to JPG, PDF, HTML, DOC, ...

FFF file format details:

A file format defines how the data in the file is structured. Each file format has a unique extension and almost always a unique signature. For example, Microsoft Word documents have the extension .docx and the signature (usually the first 3 characters in this file) PK. The file type with the extension 'FFF' covers different formats for different programs. The two most popular formats are as follows:

• 45% of all FFF files are Simplify3D printer profile files, which are using the popular XML file format. The Extensible Markup Language (XML) is a simple text-based format for representing structured information: documents, webpages, data, configuration, books, transactions, invoices, and much more. XML defines a set of rules for encoding documents in a format that is both human-readable and machine-readable. These files are text files and can therefore be read using a text editor. The files are often between 9 KB and 14 KB in size. The file type was developed only in the last few years. The files contain the following words: profile name, <?xml version="1.0"?>, app, baseProfile, S3D-Software 4, Default and <printMaterial>PLA</printMaterial>. Files like these are sometimes connected to simplify, petg, profile, creality, anet, qidi, technology, profil, flsun, layer and plus.
• 25% of all FFF files belong to Imacon 3F raw image. The files are using the common file format TIFF. TIFF is short for Tagged Image File Format. It stores raster graphics images that support color depths from 1 to 24-bit, lossy and lossless compression and multiple layers and pages. If you open these files in a text editor, you will see only illegible characters. A typical file size is 130 MB. The following keywords are characteristic: UTF-8, encoding, xml version, <!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList- and 4.8.13 Mac. The file name Hasselblad_0116.fff is typical for these files. These files are often associated with shot and arcv.
