Programs that open and convert FLOW files:
- Salesforce Flow Builder
See the previous paragraphs to learn more about the main application. FLOW files are often referred to as Salesforce Flow Builder data files because this type of file is primarily created or used by this software.

FLOW file format:
To find out what program is needed to open FLOW files, you need to determine the file format. Often, the file format can be deduced from the file extension or the initial bytes (called the signature). File extension, signature and file format must match; otherwise errors will occur when the file is opened. Exact knowledge of the format is therefore important in order to solve problems occurring in files. Below you will find our evaluation of the FLOW files:
The FLOW file type is used by a few programs, each with its own file format. The two most popular formats are as follows:
- 20% of all FLOW files store the data in the JSON file format. JSON (JavaScript Object Notation) is a lightweight data−interchange format. It is easy for humans to read and write. It is easy for machines to parse and generate. The content consists of readable text data, which can be read using a text editor. FLOW files can be up to 160 KB in size, but are often around 3 KB - 81 KB. The file type is a fairly new file format. The keywords type, data, version, true, auto-transform, created, flags, flopack, flos, looseBooleans, looseNulls and looseStrings are typical for these files.
- 9% of all FLOW files are Maple Flow document files, which are using the popular XML file format. The Extensible Markup Language (XML) is a simple text-based format for representing structured information: documents, webpages, data, configuration, books, transactions, invoices, and much more. XML defines a set of rules for encoding documents in a format that is both human-readable and machine-readable. The content consists of readable text data, which can be read using a text editor. Most of these files are 4 KB to 300 KB in size. The keywords <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>, <Flow xmlns="http://soap.sforce.com/2006/04/metadata"> and name are typical for these files. Some examples of file names are Main.flow. Such files sometimes refer to subflow.
All other FLOW files (71%) have different formats, such as PDF, ZIP, XML, eyJhbGciOiJIUzI, sIAAAAAAAAA, flow, software and FlowScript. Tagged as workflow, image, order, inflow, inventory, customer or nozones. Drag & drop your file here to see the file format and a preview of your FLOW file!
