Why is it important to know the file format? This is the only way to find out which program to use to open the file. The file format can be deduced from the file extension and the signature. Nonetheless, different programs can utilize the same file extension to represent distinct file formats. Double-clicking on the file often results in an error when opening. Knowledge is power - this also applies when dealing with unknown or faulty files. Below is our analysis of the FTG files:

The FTG file extension is not common and is used by a few programs, each with its own file format. But the following two file formats are common:

• 20% of all FTG files belong to Dark Reign game data archive. They consist of unreadable binary data. The average file size is 2 MB with most files being between 1 MB and 5 MB in size. Several words can almost always be found in the files, e.g. BOTG and RSPR. The following filename is common: SPRITES.FTG.
• 20% of all FTG files internally use the ZIP format, the FTG file contains a number of compressed files. FTG files contain from 1 to 2 compressed files.
