A file format defines how the data in the file is structured. The initial characters of a file are called signature, sometimes also referred to as "magic bytes". The signature can be used to infer the file format. If the file extension or signature does not match the file format, errors will occur when opening or editing the file. Exact knowledge of the format is therefore important in order to solve problems occurring in files. Below you will find our evaluation of the FUL files:

The FUL file type is a very commonly used file extension and is primarily used by a single program. The file formats most commonly found in FUL files are:

• 80% of all FUL files use the same file format, which can be identified by the letters "1B 25 2D 31 32 33 34 35 58 40 50 4A 4C 20 43 4F" at the beginning. They consist of illegible, cryptic characters. The files are 19 MB to 25 MB in size, with a median of 19 MB. The file type is relatively new. Certain words are almost always found in the files, such as %-12345X@PJL COMMENT (null), *rt16384sA, @PJL ENTER LANGUAGE=FWUPDATE, EThis device does not support FWUPDATE, *b16384V and *b16543Y. An example of a file name is amperexl_plus_pr_APP2CN2023AR_secure_signed_rbx.ful or amperexl_pr_AXP2CN2331AR_secure_signed_rbx.ful. Such files are related to signed, secure, amperexl, plus, coulombxl, update, base and muscatel.
• 6% of all FUL files start with the magic bytes 02 00 00 00, which are always the first bytes of this file format. These files contain neither text nor words, but only data. The file size is in the range of 11 KB to 1 MB. Certain words are almost always found in the files, such as MASTER_CPU_1, paInit, resource1, TaskAnalog and Task10ms. Some examples of file names are kvb.ful or system.ful. Files like these are about valve, interpretation, exception, injection, cooling, mold and time.
