What is a GDOC file?

GDOC files mostly belong to Docs by Google. A GDOC file is a document created with the Docs document authoring and editing software developed by Google. The document is saved in Portable Document Format (PDF) using Skia engine. Another type of GDOC file is a JSON-encoded text file which points to a Docs document saved in Drive cloud-based file storage solution. Such a document link contains a single JSON object with document URL, document ID, and author email fields.

How to open GDOC files

You need a suitable software like Docs to open a GDOC file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. A file format defines how the data in the file is structured. The file format can be deduced from the file extension and the signature.
