Other uses include:
  • Golden Education File, also known as a Golden Software Graph File, used with Golden Software tools.
  • CIMPLICITY project file for HMI/SCADA systems. More details can be seen at GE.
  • A compressed data file (using ZIP) for gallery exports, handled by the Kaleidescape Gallery Editor. Visit Kaleidescape for more info.
  • A file for German workplace risk assessment, used with GEFAHREXPERT, with additional information available at Ingenieur.

    GEF file format details:

A file format defines how the data in the file is structured. A file format is determined by the file extension and signature, so JPEG images have the extension .jpg and the first bytes in the file are ÿØÿ. Nonetheless, different programs can utilize the same file extension to represent distinct file formats. Double-clicking on the file often results in an error when opening. So you need a detailed analysis of a file to find out the format and the associated program. Our analysis of the GEF files produces the following result:

The GEF extension is quite commonly used. The file itself mainly uses a special format. The following file formats are most commonly found in GEF files:

All other GEF files (6%) have no uniform format, the following 4 formats can be found: config and ZIP. Just click the "Choose your .gef file to view" button on this page to find out what your GEF file is.
