HCP files mostly belong to HCP Viewer.

Overview: HCP files are used in various specialized contexts. The largest group (nearly half) is a SAP screenshot file that contains a Help Center compressed image. This type works with a dedicated viewer (often called HCP Viewer, with tools like XnViewMP sometimes involved).

How to open HCP files

You need a suitable software like HCP Viewer to open an HCP file. If you can determine the file format, the associated program can also be determined. The file format can be determined based on the file extension and the signature (the first few characters of a file). However, different programs can use the same file extension, and file extensions can be assigned incorrectly. Knowledge is power - this also applies when dealing with unknown or faulty files. Our evaluation of the HCP files is as follows:

The HCP file extension is not found very often and covers different formats for different programs. But the following two file formats are common:

• 60% of all HCP files use the same file format, which have the signature BM. The content consists of illegible binary data, which can only be read and interpreted by the associated programs. HCP files can be up to 19 MB in size, but are often around 610 KB - 5 MB. The file type was developed 10 years ago and is still in use today. These files can be linked to fehler and bild.
• 15% of all HCP files are TSPLIB Hamiltonian Cycle Problem data files. These files are not plain text files, so they also contain binary data. The files are often between 820 bytes and 56 KB in size.
