What is an IDZ file?

IDZ files mostly belong to Autodesk Inventor. An IDZ file can represent different types of data depending on its source.
For example, it may be a file from an Autodesk Inventor Content Library used to hold design components and style information.

• Autodesk Inventor Library: These files store parts and assembly styles to support CAD modeling workflows.
• Compressed PNG Image: In other cases, the file contains image data in PNG format compressed into a single container.

To find out what program is needed to open IDZ files, you need to determine the file format. The initial characters of a file are called signature, sometimes also referred to as "magic bytes". Frequently, however, one file extension is used by different programs for different file formats, and one file format for different file extensions. IDZ is not a common file extension and includes various formats for various programs. The following file formats are most commonly found in IDZ files:

• 40% of all IDZ files are using the well-known PNG file format to store the data. PNG is short for Portable Network Graphics.
