What is an IMP file?

IMP files mostly belong to Tally ERP9.

The IMP extension is used by several specialized applications. It does not have one standard format; instead, its structure is set by the program that creates it. For example, Tally ERP9 uses IMP files to import accounting data, storing text in a UTF-16 (LE) format.
Other uses include:

• Dental CAD/CAM Data: Some IMP files are ZIP-compressed and contain 3Shape Dental System scan data. See the 3Shape website for details.

How to open an IMP file

You need a suitable software like Tally ERP9 to open an IMP file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert.
