How to open a JOT file

You need a suitable software like JotNot to open a JOT file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you can determine the file format, the associated program can also be determined. The file format can be deduced from the file extension and the signature. Nonetheless, different programs can utilize the same file extension to represent distinct file formats. Double-clicking on the file often results in an error when opening. If there are problems opening a file, you must first determine the file format used. Below is our analysis of the JOT files:

JOT is not a common file extension and is used by different programs with different formats. The two most common formats are as follows:

• 35% of all JOT files use the ZIP algorithm, the JOT file contains a number of compressed files. 5 to 13 compressed files with names like index.json and \Images\ are common. A little tip: If you rename the file extension to .zip and then double-click, you will see the included files and images. The average file size is 8 MB with most files being between 2 MB and 15 MB in size. The files contain the following words: Images and Original. The following filename is common: JotNot_2020-06-01.jot or JotNot_2020-06-01 (2).jot.
• 20% of all JOT files start with the magic bytes 50 00 00 10 E4 00 00 10 8D A4, which are always the first bytes of this file format. The content consists of illegible binary data, which can only be read and interpreted by the associated programs. Most of these files are 1 KB to 8 KB in size. Files like these are about jotter.
