How to open a KS file
You need a suitable software like TyranoBuilder to open a KS file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your KS file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a KS file directly in the browser:. The KS extension is very commonly found and includes very many different file formats. But the following two file formats are common:
- 15% of all KS files start with the bytes [_tb_system_call, which are crucial for this file format. The content consists of readable text data, which can be read using a text editor. The average file size is 14 KB with most files being between 600 bytes and 41 KB in size. The file type is relatively new. The keywords system, _tb_system_call storage, start, [cm ], message, time, window, show, bg time and true are typical for these files. The file name _preview.ks or scene1.ks is typical for these files. Such KS files store data about preview, opening, ending, scenerio, feeder, fraype, mocha, vanir, woman and post.
- 10% of all KS files internally utilize the UTF-16 (LE) file format. UTF-16 (LE) is an character encoding system for Unicode. UTF-16 files can be viewed in any modern text editor. These files start with the two bytes FF FE, the so called byte order mark (BOM). These are binary files, so they do not contain words or text. The file size is in the range of 2 KB to 100 KB. These files can be linked to first, story, prologue, sakura, shinji and shirou.
