What is a KSF file?

KSF files mostly belong to KORG KROME EX. KSF files serve different purposes depending on the system that created them. The most common type is the Korg synthesizer file, which stores instrument sound samples and settings used by Korg synthesizers.
Other uses include:

How to open KSF files

You need a suitable software like KORG KROME EX to open a KSF file. Each file has a definite file format, that is, how the stored data is arranged in the file. The file format can be deduced from the file extension and the signature. File extension, signature and file format must match; otherwise errors will occur when the file is opened. If there are problems opening a file, you must first determine the file format used. An KSF file covers different formats for different programs. The following file formats are most commonly found in KSF files:

• 60% of all KSF files are associated with Korg Trinity/Triton sample. The contents of these files cannot be read by a human; only a computer program can interpret the data. KSF files are between 26 KB and 510 KB in size. The file type is very old but is also used today. Certain words are almost always found in the files, such as SMP1, SNO1 and SMD1. • 6% of all KSF files use the popular UTF-8 file format. UTF-8 is the World Wide Web's most common character encoding for Unicode. UTF-8 files can be viewed with any text editor. These files start with the 3 bytes  (hex: EF BB BF), the so called byte order mark (BOM). The contents of these files can even be read by a human. The file size is in the range of 1 KB to 22 KB. Certain words are almost always found in the files, such as [DriverInfo], [EasySetName], name, system="Windows NT x64", model="KONICA MINOLTA, SeriesPCL, comment="", language="EN", versionnum=1, [OEMDEV], NotForMono="", PDL="PCL" and versionnum=2.
