What is an LBD file?

LBD files mostly belong to Labandict Bot Designer. LBD files are not one-size‐fits-all files. They come in several types:

• LINE Bot Designer file: Most LBD files are used by Labandict. They are stored in a ZIP archive that holds project files for designing chatbots. In this case, the file contains scripts, settings, and resources for LINE Bot projects.
• LaserBandit data file: A smaller group of LBD files is used as data files in projects linked to Sega Genesis/Mega Drive. They hold game-related data and configuration.
• Nicolet IR spectra library: Another group is created by Nicolet Instrument Corporation. These files store FT-IR spectral data used in infrared spectroscopy setups.

How to open LBD files

You need a suitable software like Labandict Bot Designer to open an LBD file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. LBD file format:

Why is it important to know the file format? This is the only way to find out which program to use to open the file. Each file format has a unique extension and almost always a unique signature. For example, Microsoft Word documents have the extension .docx and the signature (usually the first 3 characters in this file) PK. Frequently, however, one file extension is used by different programs for different file formats, and one file format for different file extensions. When there is a problem with a file, the first step to solving it is to determine the file format. Our analysis of the LBD files produces the following result:

The LBD file extension is rather rarely used and includes various formats for various programs. But the following two file formats are common:

• 30% of all LBD files internally use the ZIP format, the LBD file contains a number of compressed files. The 1 to 3 compressed files are called model.json. A little tip: If you rename the file extension to .zip and then double-click, you will see the included files and images. LBD files are between 780 bytes and 160 KB in size. The keywords model.json are typical for these files. Such files are related to tech, program, check, demo and govtech.
• 6% of all LBD files start with the bytes 1024 crucial for this file format. They consist of unreadable binary data. Most of these files are 10 KB to 4 MB in size. The following keywords are characteristic: Nicolet, Copyright, 2008 Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc and Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. for single computer use only.
